BlackBerry KEY2 Malaysian price revealed

UPDATE: BlackBerry KEY2 has been officially launched! Details here.

For those who enjoy typing on a physical keyboard, the latest Blackberry KEY2 is launching in Malaysia today. For those who are eager to get this productivity tool, the official Malaysian pricing has been revealed ahead of the event.

The image above was shared on a local BBM group and it indicates that the QWERTY device will be priced at RM2,599 in Malaysia. As a comparison, the previous KEYone was officially priced at RM2,688 (inclusive of 6% GST).

The BlackBerry KEY2 retains the same signature BlackBerry keyboard but they have done a couple of design tweaks to offer an improved typing experience. The individual keys are now 20% taller with a matte finish and they have also improved the spacing for the keys as well. To recap on the specs, it retains a similar 4.5″ 3:2 display that pushes a 1620×1080 pixels resolution.

Under the hood, it now runs on a more powerful Snapdragon 660 processor that’s mated to 6GB of RAM and it comes with either 64GB or 128GB of storage. In the camera department, the KEY2 now gets a dual-camera setup consisting of a 12MP f/1.8 main camera and a secondary 12MP f/2.6 unit that offers 2X optical zoom. For selfies, the device gets an 8MP front-facing camera.

Powering the KEY2 is a 3,500mAh battery which supports QuickCharge 3.0 and USB PD 2.0 charging via USB-C. Out of the box, it runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo.
