If these photos are real, the Mi MIX 3 could be the perfect Full Screen smartphone

The Xiaomi Mi MIX was one of the first modern smartphones to push the boundaries of a bezel-less display. The screen stretches all the way to the top edges of the device, however, there’s a thick bottom chin which houses the front camera.

When Xiaomi introduced the Mi MIX 2 and MIX 2S, it felt like Xiaomi is turning their “concept” smartphone into a conventional device. The bezels got thicker and they still retain the bottom chin. Next to the new vivo NEX and OPPO Find X, the Mi MIX doesn’t feel that special anymore but that is all about to change with the new one. A couple of photos that alleged to be the Mi MIX 3 have surfaced online and from the looks of it, Xiaomi might have just made the perfect “Full Screen” smartphone.

Several photos of the upcoming Mi MIX 3 being tested were posted on Weibo and what’s noticeable is an almost perfect all-screen display. It has a symmetrical looking bezel for all sides and that includes the bottom chin. You can still see a thin earpiece at top frame and if you look around, you’ll realise that there’s no visible front camera. Since the chin is thinner than others and the display has no notch, the device could possibly offer the most screen to body ratio.

Like the vivo NEX and OPPO Find X, it’s speculated that Xiaomi will be featuring a pop-up selfie camera on the Mi MIX 3. If this is true, this would be quite remarkable as Mi MIX 3 users can finally take selfies the right way up. Unfortunately, there are no photos of the top of the device to verify this claim.

In terms of specs, the new device is expected to be similar with the MI MIX 2S. It is said to run on a Snapdragon 845 processor with dual-cameras at the rear. The latest flagship device launched by Xiaomi is the Mi 8 and they could carry over the dual-frequency GPS and under-display fingerprint sensor from the Explorer Edition to this new Full Screen device.

Suddenly, Xiaomi has a lot of flagship smartphones in just a short timespan. The Mi MIX 2S was launched in March, while the Mi 8 series was introduced in May. Since the MIX 2S is more of an incremental upgrade like a OnePlus 3T/5T, this Mi MIX 3 might be announced sometime in September, which is a year after the Mi MIX 2 was launched.

We can’t confirm if these images are 100% legit but we certainly can’t wait to see what Xiaomi would come out next for the MIX series. Since this is a Xiaomi product, you can expect it to be priced lower than vivo and OPPO. What do you think? Leave your thoughts below.
