The next Huawei Nova smartphone offers more RAM and battery capacity than the P20

After introducing the Nova 3e, Huawei appears to be releasing more selfie-centric smartphones with higher specs. The upcoming model, which is supposedly called the Nova 3 has been spotted on China’s TENAA certification database with the model number PAR-AL00 and PAR-TL00. From the looks of it, this is more than just a rehashed Nova 3e.

According to its certification listing, the Nova 3 will come with an Octa-Core processor which is speculated to be Huawei’s new Kirin 710. This is said to be the successor of its mid-range Kirin 659 chipset. It will come with 6GB of RAM and storage options of 64GB or 128GB which is still expandable via microSD.

Interestingly, the display is quite large at 6.3″ and it pushes a resolution of 2340×1080. That’s taller than a 19:9 aspect ratio display which usually pushes 2280 pixels in height.

While it’s hard to see the screen on TENAA’s database, the spacing between the camera and other sensors on the earpiece seem to indicate that there’s no notch. If it isn’t, then the notch could be much wider than its current Nova 3e. The device will get a front facing 24MP shooter and a secondary 2MP camera for bokeh effects.

Looking at the rear photo, it looks similar to the current Nova 3e with its reflective glass back and rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. You’ll also notice that there’s AI Camera written next to its dual-camera bump. This could be the first nova smartphone with AI-powered cameras like its more premium P20 and P20 Pro. Instead of having a modest 16MP + 2MP rear camera combo on the Nova 3e, this new model is listed with a 24MP + 16MP dual-camera setup, which is quite similar to the honor 10.

The battery is listed with a 3,650mAh capacity which is larger than the current P20 that has a 3,400mAh capacity. Looking at the hardware specs, this could compete with the higher-spec variants of the OPPO F7 and vivo V9.
