You can convert your leftover Euros to Bitcoin at Amsterdam Airport

If you’re leaving Europe via Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, here’s another way to dispose of your leftover Euro currency. Instead of exchanging it back to your own home currency, you can now convert your notes to cryptocurrencies.

Amsterdam Airport has installed a Bitcoin ATM which allows passengers to convert Euros into Bitcoin or Ethereum. They claim to be the first airport in Europe to offer the service and this would be beneficial for travellers who can’t spend Euros in their home country.

At the moment, the Bitcoin ATM is located at Arrival Hall 2, opposite La Place Express and iAmsterdam Visitor Centre. This is also the entrance for Departure Halls 1 and 2.

The Bitcoin or Ethereum amount will be deposited to your digital wallet and you can redeem up to a maximum of €100. According to Schiphol Airport, the machine will be available as part of a trial to see if it’s well accepted by travellers until end of 2018. At the time of posting, 1 BTC is valued at RM24,665, while 1 ETH is at RM1,813.
