The Huawei P20 Lite is already on sale

Well, this was an interesting turn of events. Despite being less than two weeks away from its official launch, it looks like the Huawei P20 Lite is already on sale in Italy.

Tech site androidworld actually managed to get their hands on the Huawei P20 Lite from MediaWorld and did a quick unboxing in front of the store itself.

We’re not sure how this happened but we’re glad it did because it confirms some of the things we were unsure about on the P20 Lite. Previously, we reported that the Huawei P20 Lite featured a micro USB port based on a product listing.

Now, with androidworld’s unboxing, we know for sure that the smartphone uses a USB Type-C port instead. Phew. Besides that, it looks like everything else is the same.

Huawei’s P20 Lite features a 5.8″ display that pushes a Full HD+ resolution of 2280×1080 pixels. If that looks a little peculiar it’s because the smartphone has a taller 19:9 aspect ratio display that comes complete with everyone’s favourite notch.

Inside, the handset features a mid-range Kirin 659 octa-core processor mated to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage that you can further expand via a microSD card. Out of the box, it runs on Android Oreo with Huawei’s EMUI skin on top. There’s also a face unlock feature as well as a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for security.

To take photos, the P20 Lite gets a dual camera system at the back with a main 16MP sensor and a secondary 2MP sensor for depth effects. In front, you’ve got a 16MP selfie shooter that also supports portrait selfies with studio lighting effects.

Keeping the lights on is a 3,000 mAh battery with support for 9V2A fast-charging. Good news is that it retains the 3.5mm headphone jack. Based on our previous post, the Huawei P20 Lite was priced at PLN1,599 which translates to about RM1,830. That said, we think it will be priced under RM1,500 if it arrives in Malaysia.

Huawei’s P20 Lite was set to be announced together with its more expensive — and more capable — siblings the P20 and P20 Pro in Paris on the 27th of March 2018. Stay tuned for the full details because we’re going to be reporting live from the event!
