If you’re looking for a stock Android smartphone on a budget, the Nokia 2 is now available in Malaysia. This is Nokia’s most affordable smartphone for our market which boasts a 2-day battery life from its 4,100mAh battery.
In terms of specs, the Nokia 2 is a very basic device. It has a 5.0″ HD 720p display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and under the hood, it is powered by a Quad-Core Snapdragon 212 processor that’s mated to 1GB of RAM. Included is 8GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB extra via microSD.
Over at the rear, it gets an 8MP main camera with LED flash while the front comes with a standard 5MP selfie shooter. It’s also a dual-SIM device and it supports 4G LTE along with 802.11 b/g/b WiFi and Bluetooth 4.1. For Malaysia, we are getting the dual-SIM version.
At RM429, it is quite pricey when compared to other budget alternatives but it does provide a clean stock experience which is currently running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. For something more powerful, you might want to consider the Redmi 5A instead. It has a MIUI skin on top but you do get a more powerful Snapdragon 425 processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. There is an even cheaper Nokia 1 which runs on Android Go edition of Oreo but so far there’s no word of its availability for Malaysia.
If you’re interested, DirectD is selling the Nokia 2 at RM429 or you can get it for as low as RM399 on Lazada Malaysia.
