ASUS will be unveiling its ZenFone 5 smartphones at MWC 2018 and you can already tell that it will “borrow” some design elements from the iPhone X. One of the glaring features is its notch design for its full edge to edge display. If you’re wondering how it works on an Android-powered device, we now have a clear look at the notch.
Based on this new image, the ASUS ZenFone 5’s notch is narrower than the iPhone X which provides more display space on the top portion of the screen. The clock and battery percentage info is placed on the right corner, while the left houses your typical icons including WiFi and what appears to be a Google Play logo.
We still don’t know what’s the final name of this device and it could be a ZenFone 5 Pro or ZenFone 5 Deluxe if it’s their top of the line model. Just yesterday, an ASUS device with the model number Z01RD was spotted on Antutu Benchmark with a Snapdragon 845 processor that’s mated to 6GB of RAM. The display is listed with a 2246×1080 pixels resolution, which is taller than your typical FullHD+ display with an 18:9 display aspect ratio. What do you think of this notch design? Is this better than the iPhone X and Essential phone?
The ASUS #backto5 event will be held on 27 February 2018 and it will be streamed live at 2.30AM on 28 February, Malaysian time. Stay tuned to us for the latest updates from MWC 2018.
