Android 8.0 Oreo update has arrived for Galaxy S8/S8+ units in Malaysia

Samsung has begun rolling out its latest Android 8.0 Oreo update for Malaysian Galaxy S8/S8+ units. This also brings their latest Samsung Experience 9.0 which brings a couple of new UI improvements.

Jumping from Android 7.0 to Android 8.0, you can expect improved notifications and it also supports notification badges on the app icons. Performance is said to have improved as background services are limited for better battery life. There are also new edge screen features along with new clock styles for the always-on display.

The update also brings its Dual Messenger feature to the Galaxy S8/S8+ which allows you to install two copies of WhatsApp and other instant messaging apps on a single device. Other minor improvements include high-quality audio codec support for Bluetooth streaming and the ability to manage all your username and passwords using Samsung Pass.

Finally, you can go directly to the clock app when you tap on the default clock on the digital clock widget. You can check out the full changelog below:

If you haven’t received any notifications yet, you can download manually by going into Settings and tap on “Software update” at the bottom of the page. On our Galaxy S8+, the update weighs 1344MB in size so we recommend downloading the update via a WiFi connection. It is also recommended that you perform a backup before you proceed with this major update.
