The ASUS ZenFone 5 gets an iPhone X-like camera bump

ASUS will be announcing its new ZenFone 5 (2018) lineup at Barcelona at the end of this month. If you want to know how it looks like, the manual for one of its models has apparently leaked and it gives a clear illustration of all sides of the device.

According to WinFuture, the images you’re seeing here is for the ASUS X00PD model. This appears to be an entry-level device that comes with a 5.7″ 18:9 display. The front looks quite similar to the recently announced ZenFone Max Plus as it comes with a thicker chin and forehead design.

What’s interesting is the placement of its dual-camera lens. Unlike its current models which are horizontally placed, the new one is placed vertically at the corner of the phone which is similar to the iPhone X. Since the device is quite tall, it’s expected to come with a larger battery capacity of at least 4,000mAh. It still uses micro USB for its charging port.

The full details of its hardware aren’t known yet but an early GeekBench database listing suggests that it would run on Snapdragon 430 processor with 3GB of RAM. Out of the box, it is listed with Android 8.0 Oreo. This could be the smallest member of the new ZenFone 5 series and we expect more models to be revealed during MWC 2018.
