This is the Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+

With less than 30 days to go to the launch of the Galaxy S9/S9+, serial leakster Evan Blass (@evleaks) has just dropped more clues including official renders of Samsung’s next big thing. If you’re unconvinced with the previous leaks, this is the most legit look yet at the upcoming flagship duo.

As seen in earlier renders, the Galaxy S9/S9+ will come in two distinctive sizes and it will still feature a tall Infinity Display. On the previous Galaxy S8/S8+, the both stand out for having an edge to edge display but this purported official render appears to have thicker bezels around the sides. The renders somewhat makes it look like a Galaxy A8/A8+ (2018). Another noticeable difference is the bottom chin which appears to be thinner compared to the top.

In case you’re wondering, the Galaxy S9/S9+ will still get dual curved edges for the display. If you look closely, the metal frame seems to be more pronounced compared to the current model which is flush with its all glass construction.

Evan didn’t provide any renders for the rear but he has shared closeups of the two camera modules. To differenciate the bigger Galaxy S9+ further, it will feature a dual-camera setup that’s similar to the Galaxy Note8. Both models are also expected to come with a new camera sensor which offers an even faster focus for both moving objects and low light scenarios plus the capability to capture high-quality slow-mo videos in 1080p resolution.

What’s more interesting is its purported variable aperture lens which allows you to switch between f/2.4 and f/1.5. At f/1.5, this is the fastest lens to be fitted on a smartphone. As expected, Samsung has also changed the position of its fingerprint sensor and it’s now placed underneath the camera module.

Speaking of cameras, Evan has shared that the Galaxy S9/S9+ will get an iPhone X “Animoji” feature that allows you to create animated avatars using the front camera.

In terms of specs, the Galaxy S9/S9+ will run on either a Snapdragon 845 (US Market) processor or an in-house developed Exynos 9810. The smaller Galaxy S9 is expected to come with 4GB RAM + 64GB of storage, while the larger Galaxy S9+ will come with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage. This RAM + storage variation is quite similar to Huawei’s two-model approach for their flagships (e.g. P10 and P10 Plus).

The Galaxy S9/S9+ will be revealed at Barcelona on the 25 February 2018. Looking at the date on the screens above, it is likely that both devices could be hitting the market on 16 March this year. Since Malaysia is a key market, we could be getting it as early as mid-March. Stay tuned to us for the latest updates.
