DJI is announcing a new drone next week. What could it be?

After introducing the Mavic Pro and Spark, DJI is expected to announce a brand new drone next week. With the theme “Adventure Unfolds”, this could indicate that the new drone would come with foldable arms just like the current Mavic Pro.

Word has it that the new drone is called the DJI Mavic Air and it will be lighter and faster than the current model. It won’t replace Mavic Pro but instead, slot right below it in terms of pricing and capability. If the DJI Spark is too much of a toy for you, this could be their mid-range option in their compact drone lineup.

On top of that, there might be a second drone that’s even smaller than the Spark which can do flips. This might be a variant of the US$99 Tello drone that was announced at CES 2018 but details are very scarce at the moment.

The event will be streamed live on DJI’s website and it’s happening at 10AM on 23 January 2018. That’s 11PM Malaysian on the same day.
