The Galaxy S9 will get stereo speakers and the world’s fastest smartphone camera if this leaked picture is legit

The Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ will be announced next month at MWC 2018. Ahead of its launch, a picture of the Galaxy S9 retail box has been leaked and it reveals a couple of interesting features that are all new for the Galaxy flagship series.

From what we know so far, the Galaxy S9 will come with a single camera while the larger Galaxy S9+ will be fitted with a dual-camera setup similar to the Galaxy Note8. From the specs shown below are true, the Galaxy S9 will feature a Super Speed Dual Pixel 12MP camera with OIS that comes with a variable aperture of f/1.5 and f/2.4. This makes it the fastest lens on a smartphone and it’s the same camera that’s found on Samsung’s flagship flip-phone. The front camera is listed with an 8MP Auto Focus unit, which is similar to its current Galaxy S8/S8+ model.

The spec also mentions Super Slow-mo without giving additional format details. The Galaxy S9 was rumoured to come with 1000fps slow-mo like the Xperia flagships and it’s interesting to note that the new Exynos 9810 chip is capable of 4K resolution slow-mos at 120fps.

An interesting surprise is its stereo speakers that are tuned by AKG. Manufacturers like HTC, Huawei, Apple and Sony have stereo speakers on their flagship smartphones which are clearly better than one loudspeaker. It is likely Samsung will go with an earpiece + down-firing speaker combo, similar to HTC’s Boom Sound HiFi-Edition speakers.

As expected, the smaller S9 gets a 5.8″ QuadHD+ Super AMOLED display and it will get 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Word has it that Samsung will be bumping up the specs of the bigger Galaxy S9+ with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage for a clearer differentiation.

We can’t 100% verify if this leaked image is true but it does look legit. With the Galaxy S9/S9+ global launch happening next month, both models could be hitting Malaysia as early as March 2018. What do you think of this new discovery? Let us know in the comments below.
