The Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series were traditionally announced at Mobile World Congress and IFA each year. However, for the past flagship models, Samsung has been launching them separately at their own Samsung Unpacked event. For example, the Galaxy S8 was announced in March, while the Note8 was launched in August this year.
For the upcoming Galaxy S9, it appears that the Korean smartphone maker might be releasing it in two months’ time.
According to a Korean report, Samsung is planning to announce their latest flagships at the next Mobile World Congress that’s happening between 26 February to 1 March 2018. Apparently, this is to ensure that the devices are out earlier on the market by March 2018.
According to their chart, the event is happening on 27 February which falls on the second day of MWC 2018. In their past launches, Samsung typically announces their new Galaxy S lineup a day before MWC starts. If Samsung decides to use Barcelona as its launch venue, the announcement should take place on the 25th of February. Since Malaysia is a key market for Samsung, we are among the first wave countries to receive it as early as March 2018.
Other smartphone makers that are expected to making a showing at MWC 2018 include Sony, LG and possibly Huawei. If you’re wondering what does the next S9 and S9+ would look like, you can check out the clear renders shared by @onleaks.
