vivo V7: The compact FullView alternative

vivo Malaysia was the first to introduce their mid-range 18:9 “FullView” smartphone with the V7+. Priced at RM1,499, it is pricey compared to its direct rivals such as the Huawei Nova 2i and OPPO F5.

If you’re looking for an affordable and compact alternative, here comes the vivo V7 that comes with a lower price tag.

The vivo V7 is essentially a slightly smaller vivo V7+ with a couple of differences. It has a 5.7″ (V7+: 5.99″) display that pushes a HD 720p resolution in a 18:9 display aspect ratio. Under the hood, it gets the same Octa-Core Snapdragon 450 processor that’s mated to 4GB of RAM. Storage wise, the V7 has a smaller 32GB capacity which is also expandable via microSD up to 256GB.

Compared to the V7+, the V7 feels much lighter in the hands and it still retains a full metal unibody exterior with the same twin stripe antenna band design. With a width of 72.8mm, vivo manages to cram a 5.7″ screen onto a 5.2″ smartphone body (Xperia XZ1 width: 73mm).

Despite being a more affordable device, vivo retains the same camera setup on the v7. It has a 16MP f/2.0 main camera while the front features a 24MP f/2.0 shooter that comes with its own selfie softlight.

Powering the vivo V7 is a 3,000mAh battery which is slightly smaller than the V7+’s 3,220mAh capacity. Out of the box, it runs on Android 7.1 with an iOS-inspired Funtouch OS 3.2.

In Malaysia, the vivo V7 is priced at RM1,299 which puts in on par with the Huawei Nova 2i and OPPO F5 in price, but it’s still behind when it comes to hardware specs. There are two colour options – Crown Gold and Matte Black.

If you’re interested, it is now available for pre-order and it will be released on 25 November 2017 at vivo concept stores, partner stores and participating e-commerce sites.
