The iPhone X is Apple’s latest and greatest device which also marks the 10th anniversary of the iPhone. With an asking price of more than RM5,000, it is also the most expensive iPhone yet.
Is it worth the RM1,000 premium over the iPhone 8 Plus? Find out what we think in our video review.
Compared to the iPhone 8 Plus, the iPhone X gets a 5.8” Super Retina HD display (2436×1125) that stretches edge to edge with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. As a comparison, Samsung’s Infinity display (S8/Note8) has an aspect ratio 18.5:9 while the Huawei Mate 10 Pro’s screen is doing 18:9. Since the iPhone X uses an AMOLED panel, the screen is brighter and has better contrast compared to the IPS panel on standard iPhone.
Replacing TouchID is its new FaceID module which brings a new form of facial unlock as well as depth of field effects for the front camera. While the cameras are identical to the iPhone 8 Plus, it gets OIS assistance and a f/2.4 lens for the secondary shooter. This also helps to capture telephoto shots brighter than the iPhone 8 Plus. On top of that, you’ll also get Portrait Mode with Lighting effects for the front camera.
The iPhone X is hitting Malaysia starting this Friday, 24 November 2017. Available in Silver and Space Grey, the iPhone X is officially priced at RM5,149 for 64GB and RM5,899 for 256GB. If you’re planning on getting one with a telco contract, do check out our plan comparison.
