Mozilla‘s revealed a brand new version of their Firefox browser, and it’s apparently a whole lot faster than the original.
Firefox Quantum, as the new Firefox is named, has had its core engine completely rehauled and it eats up far less memory so you can surf more with more tabs without straining your system. It’s also got a brand new look to boot, making this the biggest update the browser has had since its launch in 2004.
The new user interface is called Photon, which is designed to modernize and unify Firefox’s features while taking advantage of the new engine. Here’s pretty much what the new interface looks like:
The browser will also be using Google as their default search provider but supports over 60 search providers pre-installed across over 90 languages, making giving users a lot of choices to work with. On top of all that, Quantum is optimised for power consumption so the tab that you’re currently looking at, gets prioritised over the rest.
If you want to pick up Firefox Quantum, you can download it for free here for Windows, Mac and Linux or for iOS and Android.
