MediaPad M3 Lite: Huawei’s sub-RM1,000 answer to the iPad mini

Looking for a compact tablet for multimedia use? Huawei Malaysia is introducing the MediaPad M3 Lite and it is more affordable than its current MediaPad M3. It has an 8″ display, dual speakers and it even supports 4G LTE.

The MediaPad M3 Lite has an 8″ IPS display that pushes Full HD resolution. If you’re planning on using this for reading, it comes with an eye-sight protection feature where it cuts down on harmful blue-light and makes dynamic colour temperature adjustments. According to the global spec sheet, it is powered by a Snapdragon 435 Octa-Core processor that is mated to 3GB RAM and has 32GB of onboard storage.

For better audio playback, the MediaPad M3 Lite has a pair of speakers located on the top and bottom end of the device that is tuned by Harman Kardon. Powering the tablet is a 4,800mAh battery which is rated to last 40 hours of music and 9 hours of video playback.

In the photography department, it gets 8MP cameras for both front and back, with the rear shooter capable of Auto Focus. Over at the front, it still comes with a fingerprint sensor which doubles up as a virtual navigation button using swipe gestures.

Connectivity wise, it supports 802.11a/b/g/n/ac WiFi and 4G LTE up to Cat4. Out of the box, it runs on EMUI 5.1 that’s based on Android 7.0. It also comes with a couple of productivity features including Split Screen and Twin App. Overall, the MediaPad M3 Lite weighs 310 grams with a thickness of 7.5mm

Available in Gold and Space Grey, the MediaPad M3 Lite is officially priced at RM999 in Malaysia. It will be available at Huawei Experience stores and Display Zones beginning 13 October 2017. Each purchase will come with a complimentary leather casing in the box.

Meanwhile, its higher-spec MediaPad M3 with a 8.4″ 2K display, four speakers and 64GB storage is now slashed from RM1,999 to RM1,699. If you’re interested, you can get it now via Lazada.
