This is OPPO’s first smartphone with an 18:9 “Full View” display

Last month, we saw three new sub-RM1,500 smartphones hitting Malaysia with a “Full View” 18:9 display. Not wanting to be left behind, OPPO will be releasing their own version with its OPPO F5. Ahead of its official announcement, we now get a clear look of their new “Selfie Expert” smartphone via a promotional video in the Philippines.

As you would expect, the screen dominates the front of the display with thinner forehead and chin than your typical smartphone. It is expected to come with a 6″ edge to edge display which is quite similar in size to the Nova 2i and vivo V7+.

From the video, it appears that it uses a single camera setup for both sides. It is speculated it might carry a 20MP shooter for the front and a 16MP unit for the rear.

The rest of the hardware is still unknown at the moment and we hope that it will have better hardware than the vivo V7+. Word has it that it might come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor and a large 4,000mAh battery. We’ll know for sure when the OPPO F5 is revealed in the Philippines on 26 October. At the moment, there’s no word if OPPO Malaysia would bring this smartphone to our market. You can check out the promotional video starring the OPPO F5 below.
