Samsung’s Galaxy Note8 launched in Malaysia. Here’s all you need to know

The phablet you’ve been waiting for is finally here. Samsung’s Galaxy Note8 has been officially launched in Malaysia and it is currently on sale nationwide today. If you missed out on the pre-order promo that Samsung ran from the 5th to 10th of September, don’t worry, because Samsung is also having a limited time roadshow promo too.

Pricing and colour options

The Samsung Galaxy Note8 is priced at RM3,999 inclusive of GST. It will be available in 3 colours: Midnight Black, Orchid Grey and Maple Gold.

Samsung Galaxy Note8 specs

Samsung’s Galaxy Note8 is the most powerful flagship the company has ever made. It comes with an Exynos 8895 octa-core 10nm processor that’s mated to 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. If 64GB isn’t enough, you can always expand it further via a microSD card slot on the hybrid Dual SIM tray.

Up front it also has the best screen Samsung’s ever put on a smartphone, This is a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display that curves at the edges and bleeds over the sides. Top and bottom bezels have also been reduced to a smudge and the phone comes in a tall 18.5:9 aspect ratio so it’s easier to hold in one hand.

On the camera front, it’s got a dual-camera setup that features two 12MP sensors where one shoots wide while the other does a short telephoto. The wide lens has an f/1.7 aperture while the telephoto one has an f/2.4 aperture. Both sensors also have OIS and gives the camera the ability to take bokeh-fied images with Live Focus.

In the battery department, the handset features a 3,300 mAh cell with support for fast charging via USB Type-C and fast wireless charging. As it’s a Note device it also comes with an S Pen with a bunch of new features including Live Message and paragraph hover translations.
