Sony Xperia XZ1 is launching in Malaysia this week

Fresh from IFA 2017, Sony Mobile appears to be bringing its latest Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact into Malaysia very soon. These are their latest flagship smartphones that run on a top of the line Snapdragon 835 processor and both are running on the very latest Android 8.0 Oreo.

The launch is taking place this Friday, 15 September 2017. In the invite, Sony Malaysia is teasing its 3D creator feature which lets you capture high-resolution 3D avatar of yourself or even food. You can check out this feature in action below.

To recap on the devices, the Xperia XZ1 is the successor of the current Xperia XZs. It also gets a 5.2″ Full HD display but now it is upgraded with HDR support. Under the hood, you’ll find a Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage which can be expanded further via microSD.

Its famed 19MP Motion Eye has been retained that’s capable of doing 960 fps slow-mo videos and it also gets 5-axis stabilisation via SteadyShot with Intelligent active Mode. Over at the front, it comes with a 13MP f/2.0 selfie camera. Keeping the Xperia XZ1 powered is a 2,700mAh battery which charges via USB Type-C.

Meanwhile, the compact Xperia XZ1 is currently the smallest flagship smartphone available. It features a smaller 4.7″ HD 720p display and it also gets the same internals as its bigger Xperia XZ1 but storage is smaller at 32GB. Even the battery is also the same capacity at 2,700mAh. On top of this, we expect their new mid-range Xperia XA1 Plus to make an appearance at the same event.

We’ll be there for the launch, so stay tuned for the official Malaysian pricing and availability details.
