The price of the flagship Nokia 8 in Malaysia looks like a damn good deal

Some say good things are not cheap and cheap things are not good. Well if this post is anything to go by then we might just have a cheap good thing in our hands….well, relatively speaking of course.

The flagship Nokia 8 has garnered quite a lot of hype and while we do know that it will launch in Malaysia by the end of this week, what we didn’t know was how much it was going to cost…until now.

A Facebook post from a store that claims to carry 100% original Nokia products with local Nokia Malaysia Avaxx Warranty reveals that the Nokia 8 will be priced at RM2,299, which is a bargain for the flagship specs you’re getting.

Nokia’s top-of-the-line phone will feature a 5.3-inch Quad HD IPS display, a Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage. These are all solid 2017 flagship specs, even if you take it consideration the modest 3,090 mAh battery that keeps the lights on.

Besides that, it employs a dual-camera system at the back (13MP+13MP), where one shoots RGB and the other does monochrome, that’s equipped with f/2.0 aperture Zeiss lenses; and is capable of recording binaural audio. What’s more, you also get a near-stock version of Android which HMD says will put you as one of the first in line for Android updates (including Android Oreo).

At this price point, the Nokia 8 seems like a really good deal especially considering the competition. Perhaps the only flagship smartphone that decisively beats the Nokia 8 when it comes to value-for-money is the Mi 6 and Xiaomi is a brand that’s known for their comically low prices.

Of course, we should stress that we did not get this information directly from Nokia or HMD as the official Malaysian launch date for the smartphone is set for this Friday. However, all things considered (they’re even opening pre-orders), this does look pretty legit.
