Samsung Galaxy J7+: Dual cameras & Live Focus for less than half the Note8’s price

The Note8 is a pricey device and for the vast majority of people, it’s probably a little out of your budget. So what if you want dual cameras and Live Focus but can’t afford the Note8? Well, that’s where the Samsung Galaxy J7+ comes in.

Leaked earlier, and subsequently launched in Thailand, the Galaxy J7+ is the company’s newest smartphone and it occupies the high end of Samsung’s entry-level Galaxy J series.

As a result, you get a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display in front with a MediaTek Helio P20 (MT6757V/CD) 2.39GHz octa-core processor inside. For memory, you get 4GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage (via microSD up to 256GB). All of these specs are wrapped up in a metal unibody and is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery.

One of the highlight features of this phone is, of course, its dual camera system at the back of the phone. Unlike the Note8 which uses dual 12MP sensors, the J7+ has a 13MP f/1.7 aperture primary camera plus a 5MP f/1.9 aperture secondary camera that unlocks Samsung’s Live Focus bokeh feature for simulated shallow depth of field photos. In front, users get a 16MP selfie shooter with an f/1.9 aperture lens and an LED flash.

Besides that, the Galaxy J7+ will come with Samsung’s Always-On display, Bixby home, and will run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box.

Although it’s part of Samsung’s entry-level device line, the Galaxy J7+ comes with a mid-range handset’s price tag of RM1,599. Samsung Malaysia will be taking pre-orders for the Galaxy J7+ from the 12th to 17th of September 2017 at this website. Customers who pre-order this handset will receive a 64GB memory card worth RM190 plus Samsung’s Protection Plus plan worth RM198 that includes a one-time accidental screen crack warranty and one-year extended warranty.

Pre-order customers can collect their phone from the 28th of September to the 4th of October 2017.
