Caterpillar, the maker of heavy machinery and also rugged phones has just introduced their first ever rugged tablet at IFA 2017. It runs on Windows 10 and it is designed for extreme environments to withstand dust, water, vibration and hard drops.
The Caterpillar T20 tablet comes with an 8″ 1280×800 IPS LCD display and it is protected by Gorilla Glass. It runs on a Quad-Core Intel Atom Z8350 processor with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
The tablet also gets 5MP + 2MP cameras, WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, mini-HDMI out and USB 3.0. For remote connectivity, it also comes with 4G LTE support and GPS built-in. Powering the T20 is a non-removable 7,500mAh battery.
With an IP67 rating, the T20 is waterproof up to 1 metre deep for up to 30 minutes. The T20 is also sealed for use in dusty or sandy environments and you can easily wash it off under running water. On top of that, it is also vibration proof so it can withstand harsh industrial environments better compared to any other tablets. The tablet can also survive drops of up to 1.8M and this is made possible with its added factory fitted screen protector.
The Caterpillar T20 tablet is officially priced at 649 Euro (about RM3,301). So far there are no availability details yet but it is currently open for registration of interest.
