Xiaomi has set a date for the big reveal of the Mi MIX 2

Xiaomi blew our collective minds when they unveiled their “concept phone” the Mi MIX. Then, they blew our collective minds a second time when they announced that the phone would actually go on sale and a pretty affordable — by flagship standards — price.

Well, it looks like they’re going to be back at it again very soon as the company has announced the official release date for the upcoming Mi MIX 2.

Xiaomi posted an official teaser to the launch of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 which will happen on the 11th of September. The poster shows off the phone’s minimal bezels and what looks like its rumoured 18:9 aspect ratio display. There’s also text at the bottom that roughly translates to “full screen. Evolution approach to final perfection”.

Earlier, the Mi MIX’s designer, Philippe Starck posted a quick teaser of the upcoming smartphone that shows off its near bezel-less body but didn’t reveal many specs beyond that.

So far, the rumours hint at a smaller 6-inch panel with a Snapdragon 835 chip inside, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage alongside a 3,400 mAh battery. There are also rumours of a dual-camera setup at the back and some kind of 3D facial recognition support.

Although Xiaomi’s Mi MIX 2 will almost undoubtedly be an impressive-looking device, I don’t think it will have quite the impact the first Mi MIX had on the world. Back then, near bezel-less phones were still quite a rarity, but now, most major brands like Samsung, LG, and even Apple have or will launch phones with a similar screen-to-body ratio.

Still, it will be interesting to see how Xiaomi plans to differentiate itself from the rest so stay tuned as we’ll keep you updated on the details of this brand new handset as soon as we get them.
