GoPro HERO6 Black passes certification in Malaysia

GoPro was supposed to have a two-year model cycle for its action cameras. The current GoPro HERO5 and HERO5 Session were introduced in Malaysia late last year and now it appears that a new one is launching very soon.

If you’re planning on buying the latest and greatest GoPro, you might want to wait for this instead.

The upcoming GoPro HERO6 Black was spotted on our Malaysian SIRIM database with the model number SPCH1. This was registered under FunSportz, which is the authorised GoPro distributor for Malaysia.

There are no details of its global launch but this might be an indication that it should be hitting our shores very soon. Last year’s GoPro HERO5 models were announced in September 2016 and it get went on sale locally within a few weeks.

During a media preview of its Fusion 360 camera, GoPro CEO, Nick Woodman had dropped a couple of clues of its upcoming GoPro HERO5 replacement. Apparently, the biggest change for the HERO6 is colour which is something GoPro has been improving over time. The HERO6 will be their biggest advancement yet in this area which is something consumers can look forward to.

The GoPro CEO seems to be very excited about this new 2017 model and he says that the HERO6 “is gonna be bitchin”.

The GoPro HERO5 Black and GoPro HERO5 Session were launched at RM1,849 and RM1,399 respectively but both appears to have increased in price earlier this year. At the moment, you can find a GoPro HERO5 Black as low as RM1,799 and GoPro HERO5 Session as low as RM1,499 from online retailers.
