Samsung’s latest entry-level smartphones – the Galaxy J3 Pro, J5 Pro and J7 Pro are finally here and they come with additional protection in Malaysia. Although they are priced higher than last year’s Galaxy J series, Samsung Malaysia is giving additional 1-year screen protection plus 1-year extended warranty which is the probably first of its kind for the entry-level segment.
The 5.0″ Galaxy J3 Pro is officially priced at RM699 while the 5.2″ Galaxy J5 Pro is priced at RM1,149. The biggest of the lot is the Galaxy J7 Pro with a 5.5″ display and it is going for RM1,299.
Going through the specs, the Galaxy J3 Pro comes with a 5.0″ HD 720p TFT display and it gets an unspecified Quad-Core processor with 2GB of RAM along with 16GB of storage. It features a 13MP f/1.9 main camera while the front sports a 5MP f/2.2 shooter. Being the smallest of the lot, the J3 Pro comes with a 2,400mAh non-removable battery and it charges via microUSB.
Hitting the middle ground is the 5.2″ Galaxy J5 Pro that comes with a HD 720p AMOLED display. It gets a 14nm Octa-Core Exynos 7870 processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Optics are better as well with a 13MP f/1.7 main camera and a front-facing 13MP f/1.9 shooter.
The Galaxy J5 Pro also gets NFC and a fingerprint sensor on the home button. Powering the device is a non-removable 3,000mAh battery and it also charges via microUSB.
For an additional RM150, the Galaxy J7 Pro comes with a larger 5.5″ Full HD AMOLED display. It also gets a similar processor, RAM, storage and cameras as the J5 Pro but it is juiced up by a larger 3,600mAh battery. Similar to its smaller sibling, it also comes with a fingerprint sensor and has support for NFC.
All three models are dual-SIM enabled and they have a dedicated microSD slot for storage expansion. The new Galaxy J Pro for 2017 also comes with dual messenger feature which allows you to install two separate accounts for your social and messaging apps.
Take note that the additional warranty and screen protection offer is valid from today, 14th July until 30th September 2017. This is applicable at selected participating Samsung authorised dealers nationwide at a first come first service basis while stocks last. For the screen protection, take note that there will be an additional RM50 service charge when you need to replace the screen under the screen protection warranty.
