You can now buy the most affordable flagship phablet in Malaysia

Phablet lovers rejoice, the honor 8 Pro is now on sale in Malaysia. This may be the most affordable flagship phablet yet because it comes with a set of killer specs yet is priced below RM2,000. Here are the details.

The honor 8 Pro is a flagship true and true as it comes with a large 5.7-inch Quad HD display with a pixel density of 515 ppi, a Kirin 960 processor, 6GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage. It’s also got a large 4,000 mAh battery with support for fast-charging. All of these juicy specs are wrapped up in a nice metal body that also sports a fingerprint scanner at the back.

In the camera department, the honor 8 Pro has a 12-megapixel dual camera setup at the back. One sensor captures images in RGB while the other captures images in monochrome. This setup is similar to that on the honor 8, however, the honor 8 Pro’s camera app now has a dedicated monochrome mode to make full use of that second sensor. Up front, you get an 8-megapixel selfie shooter.

These specs make the device a compelling purchase for the price of RM1,999. It’s a smartphone that has the same kind of specs — minus the camera plus a larger screen — of the Huawei P10 Plus but is over RM1,000 cheaper. It is also running on Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.1 on top.

honor is also banking on this device’s gaming capabilities as they are partnering up with popular mobile game Mobile Legends for the video game’s South East Asia Cup. This means that the tournament, which will be held in Malaysia, will be using honor 8 Pros as the official gaming smartphone for the tournament.

honor’s new flagship phablet will go on sale on Vmall.my starting today, 11th of July 2017. If you don’t want to purchase from Vmall you will have to wait until the 12th of July 2017 before it will be available in honor experience stores and display zones.

However, the first 100 customers who purchase the honor 8 Pro via Vmall and share their purchase via a Facebook post will be eligible to redeem a powerbank worth RM128.
