Moto rolls out Android Nougat for the Moto M in Malaysia

It’s not often that budget smartphones get Android version updates. Most of the time you’re stuck with whatever version of Android your smartphone shipped with until the end of time and that sucks.

Luckily the Moto M isn’t suffering the same fate as Moto just rolled out Android Nougat for this sub RM1,200 smartphone. Here are a few things you should know about this update.

Unfortunately, this update doesn’t bring any major changes to the smartphone beyond the new features included in Android Nougat. This update will push your smartphone to Android 7.0 so it also isn’t the latest version of Nougat.

However, you do get useful features like split screen multitasking, the ability to reply messages directly in the notification’s tray and other minor improvements.

The update is being pushed OTA now so you should be getting it soon. You can also manually check for the updates by going to Settings > About phone > System Updates.
