Huawei Malaysia has just announced the arrival of the Y7 Prime, a budget smartphone which could go head to head with the Nokia 6. It has a 5.5″ display and a large 4,000mAh battery that is rated to last a full day on a single charge.
The front display is a 5.5″ IPS unit which pushes a HD resolution of 1280×720 pixels. Under the hood, the Y7 Prime runs on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor that’s mated to 3GB of RAM. It comes with 32GB of onboard storage which is expandable via microSD up to 128GB. There’s a 12MP main camera and fingerprint sensor at the rear while the front carries a 8MP selfie camera.
In terms of build, it uses a full metal body with sandblasted finishing while the front uses a 2.5D glass for a premium appearance. Out of the box, it runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.1 custom skin running on top. The Y7 Prime is a dual-SIM device with a hybrid SIM slot which means you can either put a secondary SIM or a microSD card on its second slot.
The Huawei Y7 Prime is available in either Gold or Black colours. Priced at RM999, the device will be available starting 7th July at all authorised Huawei outlets. Obviously for the same price, you could get the Redmi Note 4 which offers higher specs for your money.
If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative, the Huawei Nova Lite is currently going for RM699. It has a 5.2″ Full HD display, Kirin 655 processor, 3GB of RAM but comes with a smaller 16GB of internal storage.
