The Huawei Watch 2 is now available for purchase in Malaysia

You can finally buy Huawei‘s brand new Watch 2 smartwatch here in Malaysia! There is a small catch, however.

Huawei Malaysia is currently partnered with Maxis and are selling the Huawei Watch 2 through a bundle via Maxis’ Zerolution plan. You can only get the smartwatch (in Carbon Black) in a bundle with either a Huawei P10 or a Huawei Mate 9 smartphone. You can’t just buy the smartwatch either.

To get this bundle, you will need to be on the MaxisONE Plan 158 or MaxisONE Plan 188. With the MaxisONE Plan 158 you can pick up the Huawei Watch 2 with P10 for RM93/month while the Huawei Watch 2 with Mate 9 bundle will set you back RM148/month. If you’re on MaxisONE 188 Plan, you will need to pay RM78/month for the P10 bundle and RM133/month for the Mate 9 bundle.

These prices are excluding the RM44/month annual upgrade fee and the RM23/month phone protection plan.

Huawei’s bundle with Maxis also includes a free two-month MaxisONE Share line for new Share line registrations. The Maxis Share line has unlimited calls and SMS and will add 5GB to your data pool. After the free two months have expired, users can continue using the Share line at RM48/month. Should you want to terminate the share line before the end of the free period, Maxis will impose a RM48 x 2 months reducing penalty.

This bundle is available for both new and existing customers and will run from today onwards while stocks last. You will be tied to a 24-month contract with Maxis should you choose to sign up for this plan (you can do so at Maxis Centres and Maxis Exclusive Partners).

For more info, head on over to the Maxis website.

Huawei’s brand new smartwatch is taking on a more sporty mantle compared to the device it succeeds. The IP68 dust and water resistant Watch 2 runs on Android Wear 2.0 (means it works on Android and iOS) and has support for standalone apps, customisable watch faces as well as the Google Assistant.

It’s running on a Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor paired to 768MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. It’s also got a 42mAh battery that Huawei says can last up to 2 days with normal use. The variant on offer here is the 4G LTE version that is equipped with an SIM card. This allows you to make phone calls and send messages directly from the watch itself.
