Get the Pixel Launcher on your phone now, no rooting required

When Google announced their brand new flagship devices, the Pixel and Pixel XL, one of the biggest standout features for us Nexus fans was the brand new Pixel Launcher. The problem was, there weren’t many ways we could get the launcher on non-Pixel devices without rooting our phones.

Well, now that isn’t a problem anymore. Huzzah!

Developer AmirZ dropped a fully functional APK (based on AOSP’s Launcher 3) of a port of the Google Pixel launcher on Reddit and the best part is you don’t have to root your smartphone to have access to all the features.

If you want to try it out for yourself, just head on over to the Reddit post and search for the GitHub link (latest version at the time of writing is v1.2). Then, download the file. From there, make sure you have allowed installations from “Unknown sources”, just tap on the APK and it will install.

Install the APKs at your own risk, we won’t bear any responsibility if anything goes wrong. So far I have it on my device and it works like a charm. You have all the slick animations and can even hold down on app icons on your home screen and app drawer to get shortcuts to the application itself.
