Sony Xperia XZ Premium with 4K HDR display is now on pre-order in Malaysia

Sony Mobile has finally launched the Xperia XZ Premium in Malaysia. This shiny looking flagship is the world’s first smartphone with a 4K HDR display and it’s also the world’s first to feature a 960fps slow-mo camera using a memory stacked camera sensor.

Xperia XZ Premium

The flagship smartphone is officially priced at RM3,399 and it will be open for pre-order beginning today, 25 May until 4 June at selected Sony authorised outlets as well as 11street. As a pre-order bonus, Sony is throwing additional freebie valued up to RM728 and it includes an SBH80 Stereo Bluetooth headset (worth RM399), a pre-loaded TouchNGo card (worth RM100), Screen Warranty Care+ and transparent case with tempered glass screen protector. At the moment, the XZ Premium comes in either Luminous Chrome and Deepsea Black. The Bronze Pink version will be coming to Malaysia later on.

To recap on the specs, the Xperia XZ Premium gets a 5.5″ 4K Triluminos display that’s protected by Gorilla Glass 5. Under the hood, it runs on a top of the range Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB RAM, and onboard it has 64GB of expandable storage.

At the rear, it gets a 19MP Motion Eye camera while the front comes with a 13MP selfie shooter. Like other flagship Sony Xperia smartphones, it is also dust and water resistant with an IP68 rating. Powering the XZ Premium is a 3,230mAh battery that charges up quickly (Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0 supported) via USB Type-C.

Xperia XA1 Ultra

If you’re looking for something that’s bigger in size, the Xperia XA1 Ultra with a 6.0″ Full HD edge to edge display is also announced for the Malaysian market. It is priced at RM1,899 and it’s also available for pre-order starting today. Sony Malaysia is bundling the 6.0″ phablet with a UCH12W Quick Charger plus a transparent case with tempered glass screen protector that’s worth a total of RM328. The Xperia XA1 Ultra comes in 4 colours – White, Black, Pink and Gold.

Compared to the XZ Premium, the XA1 Ultra is more of a mid-range device. It runs on a MediaTek Helio P20 processor that’s mated to 4GB of RAM and you’ll get 64GB of storage that’s expandable via microSD.

For imaging, it gets a high-resolution 23MP f/2.0 main camera at the rear. Selfie lovers would be happy to know that the front camera is a 16MP f/2.0 shooter that has autofocus and OIS. Despite its huge size, the XA1 Ultra comes with a 2,700mAh battery that charges via USB Type-C.

If you’re interested, you can head to 11street to pre-order the Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XA1 Ultra. According to both listings, 11street will start shipping them on 5 June 2017.
