U Mobile customers can enjoy better voice calls with VoLTE

After introducing WiFi Calling, U Mobile has finally rolled out VoLTE which delivers higher definition voice call. This is available to all subscribers on both U Mobile postpaid and prepaid.

To recap, VoLTE (Voice over LTE) works over 4G instead of the usual 3G/2G network. This delivers better call audio quality and a quicker connecting time than usual. On top of that, you can continue to use your phone for data at 4G speeds without dropping to 3G when you make or receive calls. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out our VoLTE call quality comparison.

There are no extra costs and the call rates remain unchanged. So, if you’re already on an unlimited call plan, your calls on VoLTE would be free of charge. Obviously, VoLTE will only work when you’re in a U Mobile 4G LTE coverage area.

At the moment, U Mobile’s VoLTE service is available only for iPhone users and it will be coming soon on Android devices. It is currently compatible with VoLTE compatible models such as the iPhone SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

To enable, make sure you have downloaded the latest software update and enable LTE for both Voice and Data. You can follow the steps below for your iPhone.
