HTC U Ultra Sapphire Edition has arrived in Malaysia

HTC Malaysia has finally introduced its sapphire glass edition of its HTC U Ultra flagship. With sapphire glass in front, this phone is more scratch resistant and this special edition model also comes with double the internal storage.

The HTC U Ultra Sapphire edition gets the same hardware as the normal HTC U Ultra. It has a 5.7″ Quad HD display and it runs on a Snapdragon 821 processor with 4GB of RAM. Instead of 64GB, the Sapphire edition gets 128GB of storage which can be expanded further via microSD. On top of that 5.7″ display is a secondary 2.0″ ticker display which can be used to show your notifications and your favourite shortcuts.

For imaging, the U Ultra gets a 12MP f/1.8 main camera while the front features a 16MP selfie shooter. It also gets the same 3,000mAh battery that supports QuickCharge 3.0 charging via USB Type-C.

While you won’t need to buy a screen protector, do note that the sapphire glass protection is only for the front and you should probably get a case to protect its shiny back. The HTC U Ultra Sapphire edition is priced at RM2,999 and it is currently available via DirectD with official 1-year HTC Malaysia warranty.

In case you missed it, the standard HTC U Ultra with 64GB storage is now going for RM2,599. Alternatively, for RM2,999, you could also pick up the LG G6 which offers the same display size in a more compact form factor.
