The Xiaomi Mi 6 is set to be launched very soon, by that I mean in a matter of days. Looking at reports, the known/leaked specifications seem very promising.
The third official video releases with the biggest surprise, the trailer confirms the presence of 6GB RAM instead of 4GB. This was put to a Geekbench test, which actually proved the rumours.
On Geekbench’s single-core test, the Mi 6 managed to score 2006 while it tallied a high 6438 multi-core score. In both tests, the device managed to beat the Samsung Galaxy S8, which posted single-core and multi-core scores of 1916 and 6011, respectively.
The Mi 6 also outperformed the Samsung Galaxy S8+, which scored a single-core test result of 1929 and a multi-core test result of 6084. Although the only difference between both the Samsung devices is the screen size and battery capacity.
Looking at the results, the Mi 6 seems rather promising. But benchmark results don’t determine everything. There are other factors such as camera and battery performance to be taken into account when judging a device.
The Mi 6 will offer three upgrades (one of which is still a mystery) from the company’s previous flagship model, the Xiaomi Mi 5. First is the replacement of a single camera system on the back of the phone with a dual-camera setup. Next is the switch from 4GB of RAM to 6GB on the new model. The third upgrade is still not known.
Some reports even indicate that the phone will come with a fingerprint scanner that is going to be embedded under the front glass, and that the phone will have an IP68 certification rating for dust and water resistance. There is also word that the 3.5mm headphone jack will be eliminated, and a USB Type-C port is expected to be found on the device.
