Sony announces budget Xperia L1

It has been a while since Sony released a new budget smartphone. After a year of focusing solely on the X series, Sony has just announced the Xperia L1. This looks like an overdue successor of the original Xperia L from 2013.

The Xperia L1 appears to slot below its Xperia XA and its newer Xperia XA1. The front gets a larger 5.5″ HD 720p display and it runs on a modest MediaTek quad-core MT6737T processor that’s clocked at 1.45GHz.

The rest of the specs are nothing much to shout about as it gets just 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. For taking pictures, it gets a 13MP f/2.2 main camera while the front sports a 5MP f/2.2 shooter.

Out of the box, it runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and is powered by a 2,620mAh battery. The Xperia L1 exterior looks like any other Sony Xperia device but it gets some subtle curves around the sides. This new budget device will be available beginning end of April and it comes in either white, black or pink colours.
