Sony launched a whole bunch of smartphones at MWC17. However, not all of them will be arriving in Malaysia at the same time. During my interview with Sony, they revealed that only the Xperia XA1 and XZs will be part of the first wave.
Today, thanks to a reliable tipster, we may have the official Malaysian pricing for both these handsets.
According to the tip, Sony will be selling the high-end Xperia XZs for RM2,899 while the Xperia XA1 will see a price tag of RM1,199. The tip also revealed that Sony will hold a pre-order for these devices starting March 29th and will last to April 9th 2017. From this, we can deduce that the device will probably go on sale around the middle of April. There will also allegedly be free gifts for those who pre-order including a Sony SBH80 Bluetooth headset, a quick charger, a case with screen protector and a DK60 USB Type-C charging dock.
To keep you up to speed, the flagship Xperia XZs will have a 5.2-inch Full HD screen, a Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It will also feature Sony’s new 19MP memory-stacked sensor which boasts features like predictive capture and an incredible 960fps slow-mo video capture mode at 720p.
The XZs is also IP68 water resistant, charges via USB Type-C and has a fingerprint sensor at the side. It’s pretty much the same phone as last year’s Xperia XZ (which is priced at RM2,699) but with a new camera and more RAM. This XZs will come in three different colours: Black, blue and silver.

On the other hand, the Xperia XA1 sees more modest specifications. You get a 5″ HD 720p display with curved glass and that near bezel-less design, a MediaTek Helio P20 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. For camera optics, it gets a 23MP Exmor RS camera at the back and an 8MP selfie shooter in front. The XA1 will come in four different colours: Black, white, pink and gold.

Unfortunately, there is no news yet on the XZ Premium and XA1 Ultra but you can expect them later this year.
