UPDATE: Huawei Malaysia has sent out P10 launch invites for 8 March.
The Huawei P10 could be heading to Malaysia as early as next week. This could be the fastest roll out yet from the Chinese smartphone maker in Malaysia.
The new Huawei flagship duo were officially revealed yesterday and Malaysia is listed among the first wave launch markets to get it beginning March 2017. Now word has it that 8 March could be a potential launch date as Huawei is alleged to have a dealer gathering on the same day. While the number 8 is auspicious, it’s also possible that the actual release could happen a few days after the dealer’s conference.
To recap, the Huawei P10 is an upgrade of its current P9 series. The P10 gets a 5.1″ Full HD display while the bigger Plus model gets a 5.5″ Quad HD display. Both are running on Huawei’s Kirin 960 processor and are available with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. The P10 Plus also has a higher spec model that offers 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage.
In the camera department, the new P10 series gets a newer Leica Dual-Lens set up with a 20MP monochrome sensor and another 12MP RGB unit. The standard P10 gets a f/2.2 aperture while the P10 Plus gets a higher grade SUMMILUX lens with a f/1.8 aperture. The P10 gets a 3,200mAh battery while the P10 Plus gets a larger capacity 3,750mAh unit.
If the alleged 8 March launch date is true, we expect to see more P10 teasers from Huawei Malaysia in the days to come. In Europe, the Huawei P10 is priced at EUR649 (around RM3,043) while the P10 Plus is priced at EUR699 (around RM3,278) for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant. Meanwhile the higher-spec P10 Plus with 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant is listed at EUR799 (around RM3,746). Of course, the European pricing is often higher than Malaysia so expect the P10 to cost less when it gets here.
