Uber wants you to get around KL for only 99sen

If you think about driving into KL on a busy weekday, you probably expect crazy jams and the hassle of looking for parking. Instead of driving, why not take an Uber instead? For two weeks, Uber is offering flat-rate 99 sen rides for short trips within the Klang Valley.

From today, 13 February until 26 February, Uber is offering affordable 99sen rides on UberX within the Klang Valley as long as the trip is within 4km. It’s applicable all day for both cash and card payments without entering any promo codes. You should see 99 sen in the fare estimation before you request for a ride.

However, the 99 sen offer can get a little tricky. According to their FAQ, RM0.99 still applies during peak hours but the fare will revert to the higher time+distance calculation during unexpected heavy or standstill traffic. The offer is also not valid for rides between KLIA and KLIA2. It’s also not applicable if you make multiple stops even if the total distance is under 4KM.

According to Uber, they will be extending the 99 sen offer duration if their facebook post above gets sufficient shares. If it hits 1,000 shares, it will be extended for a week and 2,000 shares will unlock 2 weeks more. If you haven’t tried Uber, the app is available on iOS and Android. For more info, head over to Uber’s announcement post.
