After news broke that Xiaomi’s Hugo Barra was leaving the company to return home, the first question on everyone’s mind was: Where would he go now? After some speculation, we now have an answer — it’s Facebook.
In a Facebook post, company Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg welcomed Hugo into his team as the lead of the social media platform’s virtual reality efforts. This, of course, includes the Oculus team which Facebook purchased back in 2014 for a whopping USD2 billion.
Mark says that Hugo shares his belief that virtual and augmented reality will be the next major computing platform and is looking forward to having the former Google VP on his team. Hugo also shares Mark’s excitement and is looking forward to his new position as Facebook’s VP of VR.
