vivo V5 Plus is now open for pre-order in Malaysia

The vivo V5 Plus smartphone with its double selfie cameras is now available for pre-order in Malaysia. The official launch is happening on Friday but now we have the full pricing and hardware specifications. It’s pretty close to its cousin, the OPPO R9s.

According to authorised retailer DirectD, the vivo V5 Plus is officially priced at RM1,799. Similar to the R9s, the vivo V5 Plus is listed with a 5.5″ Full HD display and it runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with 4GB of RAM. There’s 64GB of storage built-in.

While OPPO is focusing on having a better rear camera, the vivo V5 Plus gets 2 cameras in front that consists of a 20MP primary camera and a secondary 8MP unit. Over at the rear, it gets a 16MP main camera. The vivo V5 Plus also gets a decent 3,160mAh battery that supports fast charging. Looking at the first image above, the V5 Plus appears to have a similar antenna band design like the iPhone 7. According to DirectD, only Gold colour is being offered with stocks expected to be available on 21 January.

Overall, the vivo V5 Plus is a significant upgrade over its earlier vivo V5. Priced at a lower RM1,299, the V5 also comes with a 5.5″ display but it pushes a lower HD 720p resolution. Under the hood, it runs on a MediaTek MT6750 processor with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. For taking selfies, it gets a single 20MP IMX376 f/2.0 camera while the rear gets a standard 13MP shooter with PDAF. Keeping the lights on is a 3,000mAh battery.

We’ll be there at the launch so stay tuned for more details.
