We saw at IFA 2016 that Neffos was going to try their hand at a more premium category of smartphone with their brand new X1 series smartphones. Now, they’re finally launching these devices in Malaysia. Here are the details.
For the uninitiated, Neffos is the smartphone brand for networking giant TP-Link and the X1 is their more up-market offering. The lineup that preceded the X1 was called the Neffos C5 and those were mostly plastic smartphones with decidedly budget specifications.
This time, the X1 looks to shake things up. It’s got a 5-inch 720p display in front with a MediaTek Helio P10 processor running inside, mated to 2GB or 3GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB of internal storage. In the camera department, you get a 13-megapixel primary camera with PDAF and a dual-tone LED flash while a 5MP selfie shooter sits in front.
Other features include a metal body, a fingerprint scanner and a dedicated alert slider (similar to the one OnePlus employs) on the left of the device. Keeping the lights on is a 2,250 mAh battery with fast-charging technology.
If 5 inches isn’t large enough for you, then you can opt for the X1 Max. This device beefs things up a little, bumping the screen to a 5.5-inch Full HD panel, the battery to a 3,000 mAh unit and it also introduces more memory with 3GB RAM + 32GB storage or 4GB RAM + 64GB storage configurations.
The Neffos X1 will be available for purchase from all Neffos retailers and resellers nationwide from today onwards while the Neffos X1 Max will be available starting March 2017.
The Neffos X1 will retail at RM769 for the 2GB RAM/16GB storage variant while the 3GB RAM/32GB storage variant will be priced at RM849. On the other hand, the larger Neffos X1 Max will retail for RM999 for the 3GB RAM/32GB storage model, while the 4GB RAM/64GB storage model is priced at RM1,199.
The Neffos X1 will also be up for an exclusive online promotion on Lazada.my where the first 50 buyers can pick up the 3GB RAM/32GB storage variant of the device and receive a free Groovi Ripple Bluetooth speaker worth RM158. Both handsets will come in two colours — Cloudy Grey and Sunrise Gold — though the Lazada promotion is only for the Cloudy Grey colour.
UPDATE: Neffos is also offering a 2-year warranty with the device and a 3-month 1-to-1 exchange plan.
