HTC is launching something tomorrow and it’s all about U

Nope, this has nothing to do with U Mobile. HTC is about to launch its new smartphones for 2017 in a special online event. It’s happening tomorrow, 12 January at 4:00PM local time (GMT+8).

The official teaser video doesn’t say much about the product but it focuses on the word U which is likely a separate lineup from its HTC Desire and HTC One series. At first glance, it could be a personalised phone as indicated in the leaked video below from @evleaks.

According to a fresh new leak, HTC could be launching a 6″ phablet that has a Quad HD display. It is speculated to be running on the latest Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage.

What’s interesting is the top of the device appears to have a secondary “ticker” display similar to the LG V10 and V20. HTC is also said to be launching a smaller version that carries mid-range internals. It is speculated to have a smaller 5.2″ Full HD display and it runs on a MediaTek MT6755 processor with 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage.

The third device could be the HTC Vive-branded smartphone as shown above. We don’t have further info on this but it could be a dedicated VR/AR smartphone like the ASUS ZenFone AR.

More details will be revealed tomorrow. It’s happening at 4:00PM and you can watch the video stream live on htc.com.
