Xiaomi Mi MIX now available in white

The Mi MIX is the most interesting phone yet from Xiaomi with its bezel-less display and a unique ceramic body. It was announced in China a few months ago and it was available only in black. For those who prefer a lighter shade, Xiaomi has announced a white Mi MIX during its debut keynote at CES 2017.

The rest of the hardware remains unchanged with a 6.44″ bezel-less Full HD display that takes up 91.3% of the entire front of the phone. Since the screen covers the top edges of the phone, they had to move its 5MP front camera to the bottom of the device. The earpiece speaker is also replaced by a ceramic acoustic system which vibrates behind the screen.

Powering the Mi MIX is a top of the line Snapdragon 821 processor and it comes with either 4GB RAM + 128GB storage or 6GB RAM with 256GB of storage for the premium version with 18K gold accents. Over at the rear, the Mi MIX gets a 16MP main camera and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. It’s also a dual-SIM device and it comes equipped with a 4,400mAh battery that charges up quickly via USB Type-C.

Compared to the black ceramic version, the white Mi MIX handles fingerprints pretty well. Because of the lighter colour, fingerprint smudges are barely noticeable even under bright light. However, when you turn the phone around, the gap between the frame and the actual display is more noticeable on the white version, which somewhat ruins its bezel-less look.

Unfortunately, the Mi MIX is only available in China and Xiaomi has no plans of offering the device in others markets. In China, the standard version with 4GB RAM + 128GB storage is going for 3,499CNY (about RM2,276) while the 18K variant with 6GB RAM + 256GB storage is priced at 3,999CNY (about RM2,600).
