Porsche Design Huawei Mate 9 lands in Malaysia at RM6,999

The premium version of the Huawei Mate 9 is now heading to Malaysia. Huawei Malaysia will be starting pre-orders for its Porsche Design Mate 9 starting tomorrow, 15 December with full availability on 22 December.

Priced at RM6,999, the Porsche Design model comes only in Graphite Black and Huawei is offering just 5 units on both 11street and Vmall.my. It will also be available at Huawei Authorised dealers in limited quantities.

In terms of specs, it is a notch higher than the regular Mate 9. It gets a 5.5″ Quad HD dual-curved AMOLED display along with 6GB of RAM and a massive 256GB of storage. The rest of the hardware are similar to the standard Mate 9 with a Kirin 960 Octa-Core processor and a large 4,000mAh battery which supports Huawei’s new SuperCharge feature.

For imaging, it gets a Leica certified dual-camera setup that consists of a 20MP monochrome and a 12MP colour sensor. This time, it gets optical image stabilisation assistance while the front sports an 8MP selfie camera. Out of the box, it runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.0 skin on top.

If RM6,999 is too much to fork out for a phone, Huawei is likely to introduce a similar designed Huawei Mate 9 Pro in our market. It looks the same as the Porsche Design model except that it comes with lower storage options. Based on the earlier leak, the Mate 9 Pro is expected to price from RM3,199 with 4GB RAM + 64GB of storage.

UPDATE: The Huawei Mate 9 Pro is officially priced at RM3,399 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model.
