The BlackBerry DTEK60 has officially arrived in Malaysia, offering a flagship smartphone that’s backed up with industry-leading security features. This is their second Android-powered DTEK series smartphone and it comes with BlackBerry’s suite of security features.
The DTEK60 is officially priced at RM2,388 and pre-orders had started last week. Since BlackBerry is focused on software, the DTEK60 is manufactured by TCL, the company behind Alcatel and Flash smartphones.
To recap on the specs, the DTEK60 gets a 5.5″ Quad HD AMOLED display and it runs on a Snapdragon 820 processor mated to 4GB of RAM. It gets 32GB of expandable storage, a 21MP f/2.0 main camera and a front facing 8MP f/2.2 shooter. Powering the device is a 3,000mAh battery which supports QuickCharge 3.0 via USB Type-C.
The DTEK60 also features a convenience key which can be customised to launch your favourite apps/task and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor that works with AndroidPay. As expected from a BlackBerry, the signature intelligent keyboard and unified BlackBerry Hub is also included as standard.
BlackBerry is pushing the DTEK60 as the most secure Android device. It has a FIPS 140-2 compliant encryption and a secure boot process to prevent tampering. To monitor for any potential risk, the DTEK software actively monitors your app activities and will suggest security improvements. For greater peace of mind, BlackBerry also promises rapid security patches by releasing quick updates to prevent unwanted threats.
The BlackBerry DTEK60 is distributed by Brightstar Malaysia and you can find the list of authorised dealers here.
