Huawei’s brand new Mate 9 will be arriving in Malaysia next week! Here’s everything you need to know.
The Huawei Mate 9 will be priced at RM2,699 and will go on sale on the 22nd of November 2016. However, Pre-orders will start on the 15th of November 2016 (that’s tomorrow!) exclusively on Lazada Malaysia and Vmall.my. The first 10 customers to purchase one online will receive a Bluetooth keyboard worth RM499 for free.
The brand new Mate 9 was recently announced in Munich, Germany to much fanfare because the Mate 9 came in two variants — the regular Mate 9 and another that was crafted by Porsche Design.
Unfortunately, the smartphone that will go on sale next week will not bear the Porsche Design logo. But the good news is, the Mate 9 can be yours for only RM2,699 — which is a lot cheaper than its launch price in Europe.
For that kind of money, you will be getting a 5,9-inch Full HD display with a Kirin 960 octa-core processor running on the inside. Huawei says that this processor is the “highest performing smartphone processor” in the world and will stay high performing even after 18 months of usage thanks to Huawei’s Machine Learning Algorithm.
Besides that, you will be getting 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage to boot. In the camera department, you will get Huawei’s second-generation dual camera setup that’s co-engineered with Leica. Although you still get a single RGB sensor and a single monochrome sensor with f/2.2 aperture lenses, the monochrome shooter has been upgraded to a 20-megapixel unit for more detail in each photo when paired with the 12MP colour sensor.
This camera system can even support 2x magnification by combining images from both sensors to give you a crisp end photo. To improve low-light performance, this dual-camera unit also comes with optical image stabilisation — a first in the industry. For lightning quick focus, the Mate 9 will utilise a 4-1 Hybrid AF system that utilises PDAF, Laser AF, depth focus and contrast focus. In front, you get an 8MP f/1.9 snapper for selfies.
Other specifications include a large 4,000 mAh battery, USB Type-C with support for Huawei’s SuperCharge fast-charging, dual SIM support, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and an all metal build. The handset will also come running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with EMUI 5.0 running on top. Oh, it’s also Daydream compatible.
