Announced together with the Mate 9 is a brand new fitness watch by Huawei. It looks like an updated version of the honor band and its packed with essential fitness tracking features.
The Huawei FIT gets a round metal case design and an always-on monochrome touchscreen display that’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The bands are interchangeable too so you can swap them to suit different occasions.
In terms of tracking, it has multi-sport activity tracking with its 6-Axis motion sensor plus continuous heart rate and sleep monitoring. Since it is waterproof at 5ATM, it can even track your swimming activities as well. Connected via Bluetooth 4.2, the Huawei FIT syncs via the Huawei Wear app which is compatible on both Android and iOS.
To motivate you further, the Huawei FIT also has built-in training programs to support various marathon modes. After each workout, it will display your stats along with a VO2 max assessment. Besides fitness, the FIT also gives you notification alerts for incoming calls and messages.
Charging is done by connecting a magnetic cable at the rear and it boasts a battery life of 6 days per charge. The Huawei FIT is priced at 199 EUR (about RM925) and it will be available immediately in the US, followed by European markets by end November. It’s quite pricey when you compare it with the Gear Fit2 and FitBit Charge 2, but we reckon it would be cheaper when it goes on sale in our market.
