SHARP which is better known as an electronic appliance brand has finally introduced its smartphones in Malaysia. They have announced two new “mid-tier” devices – SHARP Z2 and SHARP M1, both priced under RM1,200.
Among the two smartphones, the SHARP Z2 is the higher-spec’ed device with a Deca-Core MediaTek Helio X20 processor with 4GB of RAM. The front gets a 5.5″ Full HD LTPS display and it has an 8MP f/1.8 selfie camera. Internally, it has 32GB of on-board storage which can be expanded further via microSD up to 128GB. For a more upmarket appearance, the Z2 gets a curved metal back design.
For taking pictures, it carries a 16MP camera with PDAF and EIS. The SHARP Z2 is juiced up by a 3,000mAh battery which supports quick charging. It is claimed that a 30-minute charge is enough to bring its battery levels up to 50%. Out of the box it runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and like most Android devices, the Z2 has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and dual-SIM support. Available in either Gold or Silver, the Z2 is priced at RM1,199.
The next device is more of a selfie-oriented device. In terms of design, it gets a 3D Corning Gorilla Glass at the rear which looks like a Mi Note. Similar to the SHARP Z2, it gets a 5.5″ Full HD display but under the hood, it gets a lower MediaTek MT6753 processor with 3GB of RAM.
Interestingly, it packs more on-board storage at 64GB and it is also expandable via microSD. In terms of camera, it features 13MP auto focus cameras for both front and rear. The front has a 77-degree wide-angle while the rear camera gets a wider 80-degree.
The battery is slightly smaller at 2,600mAh and it also runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The M1 comes in Hanayome White or Pure Pink and it is priced at RM899.
