Xiaomi‘s latest flagship smartphone is official, meet the Mi Note 2. It’s got a whole bunch of high-end features with an interesting curved display. Here’s everything you need to know about the brand new Mi Note 2.
First up, Xiaomi’s Mi Note 2 has all the high-end features you could want in a flagship Android smartphone. The brand new handset is powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor with two different memory configurations: 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage and 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
However, those are just numbers on a sheet of paper. What Xiaomi wants you to focus on is the Mi Note 2’s new dual-curved design. Xiaomi pioneered the 3D curved glass back design when they announced the original Mi Note handset. This time, with the new Mi Note 2, Xiaomi is using 3D curved glass on both the front and the back of the smartphone — much like the Samsung Galaxy Note7.
Design aside, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will feature a 5.7-inch Full HD curved OLED display tucked under the 3D glass. This gives it a 77.2% screen to body ratio with a 110% NTSC colour gamut with a 100,000:1 contrast ratio, Xiaomi says that they had to use an OLED display for the Mi Note 2 because it was flexible enough to be curved, unlike an LCD panel.
When it comes to the camera, the smartphone features a 22.56-megapixel Sony IMX318 camera at the back. It also has electronic image stabilisation that stabilises the footage with a 3X gyroscope in the camera sensor. It’s also got an 8MP selfie camera with autofocus for better sharpness regardless of the distance. It’s also got something called optimised group selfie that takes multiple photos and picks the best faces from each and combines it into one photo.
Keeping the lights on is a 4,070 mAh battery with support or Quick Charge 3.0 technology. It’s also got an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner on the front and NFC at the back with support for Mi Pay. It’s also got a 24bit HD Hi-Fi audio. Xiaomi’s Mi Note 2 also supports 6 types of LTE and 37 different LTE bands for global compatibility.
The Mi Note 2 will be priced at RMB,2799 (around RM1,721) for 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, RMB3,299 (around RM2,030) for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant and finally RMB3,499 (around RM2,151) for the global variant with all the bands, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The Mi Note 2 will come in two colours, Piano Black and Glacier Silver.
